early adopters are getting burned and used by not quite there battery technology, I think. Vaping is what kicked off all this, really. Batteries were designed that could quickly release large amounts of power, which just happens to be useful for motors too

In general it seems to me that anyone advocating for the use of EVs in Canada doesn't know what most of Canada is like.

In the harsh Canadian winters, EVs turn into expensive door stops unless you burn a ton of power heating a garage to leave it in.

Ask me how I know.

@sj_zero@social.fbxl.net I mean, I live in Ottawa, and just drove from Toronto. Been through the winter. Is it 100% parity? No. Are there disadvantages? Sure. Are they big problems for me? No.

And I don't heat my garage, but I do have the schedule set to pre-condition before departure…

I know Toronto and Ottawa consider themselves the center of the universe, but they are not, in fact, most of Canada. Spend a winter in Thompson, the Battlefords, Fort Mac, or some of the rest of most of Canada. You won't even wear a jacket in Ottawa's winter by comparison.
